Dilmun is an old civilization which flourished in the island of Bahrain during the Bronze Age at around 3000 B.C. The civilization began as Bahrain was along the ancient sea trade route, which linked the civilization with that of Indus Valley Civilization and Mesopotamia. Although the civilization phase off, their burial ground still bears testimony of this mighty civilization.

The Dilmun Burial Mounds were discovered by a Danish team, which during the course of their excavation, stumbled upon some tumuli, which proved the existence of this civilization about two thousand years before Christ. Each tumulus included a central stone chamber, surrounded by a low ring wall with earth, and gravel piled on them. Only one person was buried in each tumulus, although some contained more than one person.
